Education in ancient India
In ancient India education was mainly restricted to Bramhins (the prists), the uppermost sect of the society. The society was divided into four such sect and each sect had its own duties and responsibilities. Bramhins were involved in the spiritual well being of the society. A student had to stay at their homes for learning. Often the student had to leave separately from their parents for this. The next class in the society was Khatriys (the warrior) who had the responsibility of protecting the territory from the enemies. As in older days the whole Indian land was divided into several small sectors (commonly known as 'Janapad') and fighting against each other to extend ones influence into the others territory was very common. The next class of people was Baisya (the 'businessman'). They had a very positive role in Indian society.
